Mission
The mission of the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (Georgia
CORE) is to improve the quality of cancer care in Georgia by strengthening
clinical cancer research.
Goals
The goals of Georgia CORE are to:
Create a cancer research network that promotes a “team science” and
responds to the needs of patients and survivors, linking academic clinicians
with community-based investigators, educators, and public health practitioners;
Advance the quality of cancer care by promoting standards of care,
stimulating research dialogue, accelerating protocol development, matching
research interests of industry sponsors with those of investigators, conducting
clinical trials, disseminating new findings and encouraging adoption of new
interventions;
Establish a statewide cancer research agenda based on scientific
priorities that are relevant to Georgia’s cancer profile and seek to reduce
disparities;
Provide education, information and support to clinical investigators,
research personnel, patients and survivors;
Promote adoption of 21st century health information technologies to
achieve research, quality and educational goals.
